Join us for Tanium’s first-ever partner versus partner Capture the Flag challenge!

This 4-hour event will allow you to compete in a team of 3 to 4 individuals to solve a variety of progressively difficult cybersecurity challenges, leveraging our biggest security module, Threat Response. You will demonstrate your cybersecurity chops through: 

  • Investigating intrusions on Windows and Linux Endpoints 

  • Performing alert triage and host investigations 

  • Undergoing Threat Hunting on Windows and Linux Endpoints 

  • Investigating Active Directory Attacks 

  • Investigating various Lateral Movement techniques   

  • Triaging and investigating “Living off the Land” techniques 

Note: If you participated in the Capture the Flag event that took place at Converge in November 2021, you are unable to participate in this challenge.

Bragging rights and prizes will be provided to the top three winning teams. The grand prize includes an all-expenses-paid travel package* to Tanium Converge 2022 in Austin, Texas November 14-17th, and access to closed-door meetings with some of Tanium’s top execs! 

*Travel package includes airfare, hotel and grand ground transportation at an estimated value of $2,500 per person. Tanium reserves the right to modify, cancel or suspend, partially or fully, this incentive at any time. Other standard program terms apply. Only employees of partners enrolled in the Tanium Partner Advantage Program are eligible to participate in the Capture the Flag challenge and receive this prize. Agenda

Thursday, June 23rd 

  • 8:00am to 8:30am PDT: Kickoff and Orientation 

    • This 30-minute session to get logged in to the platform, strategize with your team, and ask any questions you may have

  • 8:30am to 12:30pm PDT: Capture the Flag! 

    • You will have 4 hours to complete the challenge together with your team. Communication between team members is essential. 
    • An optional 30-minute “office hours” session will be available at 10:30am PDT to answer any questions and address any issues.  
  • 12:30pm to 1:00pm PDT: Wrap-up and Awards 
    • Let’s get the results! Points will be awarded for total flags captured, timing, and team rankings. Awards and prizes will be announced during this wrap-up.

Contest Rules

 

The intent and spirit of The Partner Capture the Flag Challenge at Tanium Americas Partner Summit 2022 (the “Contest”) is to encourage participants to explore and enjoy the Tanium Americas Partner Summit 2022 event website/platform. These are the official rules and regulations (the “Contest Rules”) that govern how the Contest operates.

BY SIGNING IN OR OTHERWISE REGISTERING FOR OR PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST, YOU ARE REPRESENTING THAT YOU HAVE AUTHORITY TO ENTER INTO THE CONTEST. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, DO NOT OPT-IN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST.

NO PURCHASE OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.

ODDS OF WINNING WILL DEPEND ON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW OR WHERE REGISTRATION OR BONDING IS REQUIRED. SUBJECT TO ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS. 

You hereby expressly agree as follows:

1. DEFINITIONS:

“Employer” means the entity by which a Participant is employed and/or representing in their attendance of the Event.

“Event” means Tanium’s annual regional partner conference known as “Americas Partner Summit 2022” with the main sessions currently scheduled to be held virtually on June 14 through June 16, 2022.

“Contest” refers to the Partner Capture the Flag game that takes place on June 23, 2022.

“Judging Criteria” has the meaning ascribed thereto in Section 4 of these Contest Rules.

“Tanium” and “Sponsor” each refer to Tanium Inc., 3550 Carillon Point, Kirkland, WA.

“Team” is a group of 1, 2, 3, or 4 Participants, who have enrolled in the Contest together.

“Participant” or “You” means a person who enters the Contest, on his or her own behalf and/or on behalf of his or her Employer.

“Prize” or “Prizes” refers to the items identified in Section 6 of these Contest Rules that Winners are eligible to receive.

“Registration” or “Registrant” means the enrollment of an individual via the Americas Partner Summit 2022 event website, as a Participant in the Contest. For purposes of clarity, Participants will be deemed to have agreed to and accepted these Contest Rules upon choosing to opt-in during their log in process on the event day(s).

“Winner” or “Winners” means the person(s) identified by the Judging Criteria to be eligible for Prize(s), as identified in Section 4 of these Contest Rules.

2.  HOW TO ENTER AND CONTEST REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals seeking to enroll as Participants in the Contest will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out of participating in the Contest. The choice to participate in the contest will appear during the initial registration process. The answer you provide to this question at log in will set your status for the entirety of the Contest. In addition to completing the opt-in process, all Participants must adhere to the requirements stated herein in order to participate in the Contest.

3. CONTEST PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Each Participant must be a registered attendee of the Event, and must be a Tanium Partner.

Participants of the Capture the Flag event that took place at Converge in November 2021 are NOT eligible for the Contest.

Participants must personally participate in the Contest and must be a confirmed Registrant at the time Winners are selected and prizes are awarded.

Participants must not be government employees, including all federal, state, county, city or municipal government employees and K-12 employees, and not be ineligible to participate under all applicable laws and regulations.

4. WINNERS:

The Winning Teams of the Contest will be selected based on the number of points each Team accumulates by performing a set list of actions Capture the Flag challenge. These actions (“Judging Criteria”) are described on the “Capture the Flag” page of the Americas Partner Summit 2022 website. On June 24, based on points accumulated from 8:30am PST to 12:29pm PST on June 23, the Team that has accumulated the first, second, and third most points based on the Judging Criteria will be eligible to receive Prize(s) as described in Section 6 of these Contest Rules.

Because this is a contest of skill, winning the Contest is dependent in part on the total number of Participants. In the event of ties, Winners will be determined by a random generator.

5. NOTIFICATION:

Winners will be contacted via email beginning on June 24th, 2022. Participant understands and agrees that the Judging Criteria will determine the Winners and that such determination shall be final and binding in all respects. Acceptance of any Prize constitutes permission to use a Winner’s name, Employer information and logo, biographical information of participating Employer representatives, likeness of participating Employer representatives, in each case without further compensation, except where prohibited by law and as otherwise provided herein. 

6. PRIZES:

1st Place Prize: Travel Package provided for each member of the winning Team to attend Converge 2022, with an estimated total value of $3,800 per Participant. One first place prize package available, to be awarded to a maximum of four Participants depending upon the size of the winning Team. This travel package includes for each member of the Team:

  • Airfare voucher up to $1,000 for travel to and from the event. Airfare must be booked through Tanium’s Travel Agency, Balboa.
  • Hotel accommodations from November 14–17th at the Fairmont in Austin TX, approximate $1000 value. Only includes rooms that are part of Tanium’s standard room block.
  • Ground transportation provided in the form of $100 per day Uber voucher ($300 total).
  • Converge 2022 Attendee Pass, valued at $995.
  • Converge 2022 Labs Pass, valued at $495.

2nd Place Prize: A level 4 voucher to the Tanium partner swag store valued at $300 to each member of the second place team. One second place prize package available, to be awarded to a maximum of four Participants depending upon the size of the winning Team.

3rd Place Prize: A level 3 voucher to the Tanium partner swag store valued at $150 to each member of the third place team. One third place prize package available, to be awarded to a maximum of four Participants depending upon the size of the winning Team.

Prizes are not transferable; no substitutions or cash equivalents are allowed. When applicable, Winners will be required to execute and return any applicable tax forms within three (3) days of notification of winnings. If a Winner fails to return any such form by the deadlines indicated, prize(s) may be forfeited. TAXES, IF ANY, RELATED TO THE PRIZE ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. No responsibility or liability is assumed by Sponsor for damages, losses or injury resulting from acceptance or use of any Prize. All other expenses and costs not expressly listed above are the Winner’s sole responsibility.

7. OTHER POLICIES AFFECTING YOUR ELIGIBILITY:

It is each Participant’s sole responsibility to review, understand and abide by his or her Employer’s policies regarding eligibility to participate in the Contest and receive any prizes. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING ALL FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY OR MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND K-12 EMPLOYEES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE OR WIN A PRIZE. If a government employee chooses to participate and become eligible for a prize, then he or she may only claim a prize if we obtain a written opinion from his or her agency ethics office approving the receipt of the prize. If a Participant is found to be in violation of his or her Employer’s policies, then he or she will be disqualified from participating in the Contest and being awarded or retaining any prize. Sponsor disclaims any and all liability or responsibility for disputes arising between a Participant and his or her Employer.

8. GENERAL RULES:

By participating in this Contest, each Participant agrees to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries during this Contest. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Contest Rules, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject, cancel or revoke any participation by an individual Participant for any reason, including without limitation to disqualify any Participant that it believes may be tampering or attempting to tamper with the Contest process or the operation of the Contest, or violates the Contest Rules. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such Participant to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Contest Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Sponsor reserves the right, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest as deemed necessary or appropriate by Sponsor in its sole reasonable discretion, including, but not limited to reasons involving tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other problems beyond the control of Sponsor. Sponsor and each of its respective affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and employees will have no liability or responsibility for any claim arising in connection with participation in this Contest or the prize awarded. Each Participant assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Contest or use or redemption of any prize.

9. RELEASE/LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:

PARTICIPANT HEREBY HOLDS SPONSOR AND ITS RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, PRIZE SUPPLIERS, AND ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, AND EACH OF THE FOREGOING’S RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, SHAREHOLDERS AND AGENTS (COLLECTIVELY "RELEASEES") HARMLESS FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE CONTEST. RELEASEES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, LATE, DAMAGED, MISDIRECTED, ILLEGIBLE, INCOMPLETE, OR MUTILATED ENTRIES, OR FOR ANY COMPUTER, ONLINE, TELEPHONE OR TECHNICAL MALFUNCTIONS, DELAYS OR HUMAN ERRORS THAT OCCUR IN THE PROCESSING, TRANSMISSION OR RECEIPT OF ENTRIES, OR IF FOR ANY REASON, THE CONTEST IS NOT CAPABLE OF BEING CONDUCTED AS PLANNED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INFECTION BY COMPUTER VIRUSES, BUGS, TAMPERING, UNAUTHORIZED INTERVENTION, FRAUD, TECHNICAL FAILURES, OR OTHER CAUSES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF SPONSOR. SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT AT ITS SOLE DISCRETION TO CANCEL, TERMINATE, MODIFY OR SUSPEND THE CONTEST. SPONSOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INCORRECT OR INACCURATE ENTRY INFORMATION WHETHER CAUSED BY INTERNET USERS OR BY ANY OF THE EQUIPMENT OR PROGRAMMING ASSOCIATED WITH OR UTILIZED IN THE CONTEST OR BY ANY TECHNICAL OR HUMAN ERROR THAT MAY OCCUR IN THE PROCESSING OF THE ENTRIES IN THE CONTEST.

IN NO EVENT WILL SPONSOR BE LIABLE TO PARTICIPANT FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUES OR OTHER INCIDENTAL DAMAGES BASED ON ANY THEORY, EVEN IF SPONSOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL SPONSOR’S TOTAL LIABILITY TO PARTICIPANT UNDER THESE OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES EXCEED $50 USD.

10. MISCELLANEOUS

Any disputes in connection with this Contest will be resolved in the appropriate courts in King County, WA, exclusively, and subject to the laws of the state of Washington, without regard to choice of law provisions. Should there be a conflict between the laws of the state of Washington and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the state of Washington. Either party may terminate these Contest Rules at any time and for any reason, with or without cause, and without penalty, and without compensation of any kind, effective after giving written notice of termination to the other party. Participant will bear all of its own expenses in connection with the performance of these Contest Rules and his/her participation in the Contest and will not be entitled to reimbursement of any such expenses by Tanium. The provisions of Sections 4 through 11 shall survive any termination or expiration of these Contest Rules.
